Chris Heuer takes on Steve Rubel who has once again argued that the term "social media" should be killed because it is just another form of media. In Steve's view all media is now social.
The way Chris sees it, Steve misses what Doc Searls calls the ‘greater significance of this transformative technology," one that is changing most societal institutions.
I am full-square in Chris corner on this one. If Steve were right, the only change that has come is that it is easier for people to send letters to the editor. He seems to miss the parts about power being transformed from centralized people perceiving themselves to be in command and control od what we think, buy, watch or listen to, to decentralized peer-to-peer networks the bring influence and power to customers and readers, not vendors and publishers.
