Adario Strange writes in Wired that Joost has raised a wheelbarrow of money from allegedly smart venture. But he also reports that the new beta download seized his computer and choked on it for what felt like an eternity.
Joost, from some of the people who gave you Skype eventually plans to give you "anywhere, anytime" commercial television over the Internet, thus making it as potentially disruptive to to cable carrier as Skype has been to phone carriers. I personally do not think a few hiccups in a pioneering program that this promises to be is any cause for concern.
Apparently, neither to the venture gamblers. They are betting, I would guess, that Joost will eventually get acquired for the trainloads of money Skype got from eBay.
