Today, thanks to Scoble and Hawk, I found out what people who don't blog do with their spare time. They make things, a few make useful things. For the most part, such items do not find their way to the Maker's Faire in San Mateo, CA. Here, you will have close encounters with weird stuff, goofy stuff and some items that are just lame.
But, almost everything had some sense of creative genius to it.
Photo walking is the result of a collaboration of cinematographer Robert Scoble and photo maestro Thomas Hawk. A few months back, the two of them went shooting together and it was a kick. So they started inviting others to join. Other people have started photo walking elsewhere and I really enjoy these new experiences.

Everyone takes a whole bunch of shots and then they post them up on Flickr. The rest of mine are here. I seem to be the first to post, but watch the tag "photowalking 10," and there will be several hundred up in a few days. I think it's a new form of citizen journalism, because collectively, our photos tell the story better than a single film clip or news story.

This photo walk was less social than others because the San Mateo Fairgrounds was jammed with about 15,000 people and we all got separated. I at least got the chance to meet Cindy Li, who has just joined Scrapblog from AOL as our head of design. She's fabulous, but a little disoriented. She just got here a few days ago after packing up from Washington, DC and moving to San Francisco. I'm juiced and look forward to working with her moving forward.
