One of the remarkable things about this entire book experience has been building friendships with people I have never met, some of them quite strong. Then there's the strange moment when you actually meet someone and realize with some surprise that you have never laid eyes upon him and in the real world the two of you are strangers.
Last night I had dinner with Loic Le Meur who heads Six Apart in Europe. There was no gap. It felt like I was meeting and old and trusted friend. Loic was instrumental in giving Robert and I some of the best stories in Naked Conversations. He set up interviews with me including one with the amazing Michel LeClerc, one of France's best-known and most-respected business and social leaders. I was excited to learn the Mssr. LeClerc will be speaking at Les Blogs, which means I will get to meet him too in person.
Loic has done Robert and me the honor of inviting us to be co-keynoters at Les Blogs in Paris Dec. 5-6. It's a bigger honor still when I see the diversity and quality of the two-day roster he has assembled. He and Olivier seemed surprised at how excited I am to be speaking there.
Robert and I will be addressing a few hundred serious business bloggers from at least 16 countries and Loic wonders why I am excited? I never dreamed I would get to do something like this.
My wife Paula is coming and will watch me speak. We are also spending several extra days playing tourist. We have never been there together and neither of us have been there in a great many years. Thanks to Loic, we'll always have Paris.
