GlobalNeighbourhoods.tv is live at FastCompany--sort of

The first four episodes of GlobalNeighbourhoods.tv can now be previewed at this link.   If you go to the lower right-hand corner, you will see the episode there. IN a few hours I will have my own page, you will be able to subscribe to my channel, and there will be embedding capabilities.

I would have waited those few hours to launch this right, but Loren at 1938 discovered it and announced it was live, proclaiming it to be the worst video he has ever seen. Obviously, Loren doesn't watch his own stuff. I have seen Loren's stuff and I don't blame him.

There are four episodes up. Intel, which is the flagship piece. At some point.most GNTV's will look like that one; Hugh MacLeod talking about social objects; Sun's Peter Reiser talking about communities behind the firewall and Forrester's Jeremiah Owyang, talking about online communities in general. I hope you like them.

I'd love to hear what you think and I hold just about anyone's opinion higher than I do Loren's.

Hey Shel, your first link is broken... looks like it is trying to direct to an email address?

Looking forward to the videos!

-Andrew

Well, can't watch your videos because your link is to someone's email address.

Congrats Shel. Your links are bad. Here's the links:

1. Forrester Research's Jeremiah Owyang: http://www.fastcompany.tv/video/forresters-jeremiah-owyang-talks-communities

2. Sun Microsystems' Peter Reiser: http://www.fastcompany.tv/video/sun-your-value-community

3. Hugh Macleod (famous blog cartoonist): http://www.fastcompany.tv/video/social-objects-beget-social-gestures

4. Intel's CEO, Paul Ottelini and social media guy, Ken Kaplan: http://www.fastcompany.tv/video/social-circuit-intel-embraces-blog-culture

The link is fixed. Please let me know what you think.

Like my favorite dinner served to me on a trash can lid. You miss the message because the presentation and production is unprofessional. Shel, geez take the time and get someone to professionally produce these for you. You are holding a mic you unscrewed from a stand like you were recording on a reel to reel in 1968 instead of a web video.

Disappointing. Back to the drawing board.

Epic fail, Shel.

Just watched the Jeremiah piece.

Though there is some good information on there, I'm not sure why this is in video form and not just an audio podcast. The mic blocks his face, you are on the side drinking your coffee and looking at other stuff (the camera I assume)... just bad visuals... or a lack of care for the visuals.

But just letting it play in the background while I work and not watching brought a much better experience for me.

Scoble knows me; I've been in the video space for a long time. I'd be glad you help you out to make things easier on you. A little training goes a long way:)

Schlomo,
Your critique is pretty accurate. Jeremiah's was one of the 1st I did. There have been 20 since then & hopefully, I've improved at least a little. I am very open to tips because video is quite new to me. If you want to go long on advice go to shelisrael1@gmail.com. I need all the helo I can get.

I'm not sure what the hold-up is... maybe they have re-thought their stance on how this is going to actually make the company any money. Or perhaps their lawyers pointed out the liability of providing agents a platform to stick their feet in their mouth. Whatever it is, it's hardly something I'd claim as being "Well done".
