Note to Zuckerberg: Look at what Mena Trott did.
Robert and I never collaborate on blog topics, but w seem to have both posted questions on Facebook at about he same time. Robert more directly addresses the Beacon controversy, which I decided to leave out.
But he asks the key question: Where's Zuckerberg? In 2004, Six Apart was the blogosphere darling that FaceBook is today. That was until the surprised users by starting to charge for a new version of MovableType. What saved the company's credibility was that co-founder Mena Trott used her blog to make it right with users and to say those three magic words "We screwed up."
Now both Robert and I have been champions of Facebook. I for one, will allow them to try new ways to make revenue. The first one has so very clearly failed. That is easily solved. But the bigger problem, and the one that could bring this sprinting star banging intto the hurdles is to not demonstrate it is listening to it's users, not responding to what they want, not showing it realizes that it is the users who are in power, not them.
To Scoble I say. Yeah, where's Zuckerberg?

He's right here (well, almost)!

Would this do it for you?

Got to agree Shel but remember it took a long time for Mena to say those words; it's great that she did so but don't expect Zuckerberg to see the peril in his ways immediately, these things take time :-)
