Is Lyons Lying about Apple Offering cash to shut him up?

Dan Lyons, author of the character blog  Fake Steve Blogs has posted that Apple Computer lawyers have offered him money to spike his occasionally humorous satire blog.  Then he said that once he posted it, the deal was off because the lawyers wanted the transaction to be private. He wrote they were outraged that he m,ade the deal public.

We just have his word for it.

My guess is that this post was better suite for April 1 rather than Christmas time.  But accusing a public company of this form of impropriety may actually generate a call or two from a real lawyer. We shall see.  My guess is that Dan's next step will tell us that the conversations were just verbal and unrecorded so there's only his word--or is it the Fake's word?

Once Dan was revealed as the "True" Fake Steve, we stopped paying attention. This looks like another attempt to get that attention back. But falling for it after his track record doesn't make too much sense.

Others agree this is a clever ruse to get attention over a long quiet holiday.

Let's not try to take any fake bloggers word for real.
