Forbes name 24 celeb bloggers plus a staff member
The Web Celeb 25 - Forbes.com
The 2nd Annual Forbes 25 list is out and there are several of the names--Arrington, Scoble and Om Malik for example and they should be pretty proud. But wait a minute, wasn't Forbes the Magazine that likened us bloggers to a lynch mob nt so very long ago?
Hmm. The Forbes Page has some interesting sidebars, one an article about bloggers who were not real people. But then on the main list, there's this blog written by someone called The Fake Steve Jobs, who wasn't a person either, but a contrivance by none other than that same Forbes Editor who likened bloggers to a lynch mob in a Forbes cover story.
But Forbes covers this with an indepth interview with--you guessed it--that same Forbes editor who likened bloggers to a lynch mob. What I really liked is that the Forbes teaser on the interview with the Forbes editor says he "breaks silence." Excuse me? This guy has been on every interview program and column this side of Oprah, which once again shows she knows where to draw the line.
Now where did I put my torch? Anyone got a match?

Great list! Thank you for pointing this out.

Oh lord here we go... I'm unfortunately on that list, so I have to say that your sentence:
"The 2nd Annual Forbes 25 list..." makes the list sound more relevant than if you include the actual name they gave it, "Web Celeb." The real name helps demonstrate that it has nothing to do with importance, usefulness, value, etc. Had this been a "Forbes 25 Most Influential" or something would have make this a very different list, and I sure as hell wouldn't belong on it. Sadly, I'm already anticipating the backlash from people who'll get upset by this list, and at me for someone else's lame decision to put me on it.
I hope people just ignore it. Most lists are stupid, and this one -- well I hope the name "Web Celebs" reflects that it's just as much about gossip and scandal than anything good or useful. Nobody should take this even remotely as an example of anything to be proud to be on.
I definitely got a laugh from your post though : )

Kathy,
Actually, I had a paragraph about you in the original post, then decided that you might want to be left out of the conversation. I miss your blog, Kathy and I miss you. I hope at some point you come back in. W have lost one of our best voices and I know many people fel the way I do.

I was completely unaware that forbes tracked web personalities and had a list. Thanks for pointing this out.
