What a beautifully written tribute, Shel. I'm sure Charlie would be proud. ;-)

Thanks for sharing, Shel. I'm going to invest a little more time in some of my best friends after reading this.

Excellent, Shel. A nice tribute to a mensch.
To Life, my friend.

Heard about Charlie on a few occasions from you Shel
This is a wonderful post and a wonderful reminder of what a real friend is.

Shel - lovely post and reminder that best friends are always in your heart. I'd like to share with you a little video about my dog Max and his best friend Tab the Cat. Hope it brings a smile. Enjoy.

What a fabulous post. I really enjoyed reading that, especially as I gear up to spend the easter weekend with treasured friends.

I remember hearing these words at Charlies's funeral and thinking how beautiful they were and how grateful I was to you for those memories. The intervening four years hasn't lessened my need for kleenex one bit. Thank you for reminding me of his birthday, and most of all thank you for reminding me of all those things that Charlie brought to my life -- including you! Like you, he had a huge impact on my writing. But his bigger, and longer lasting impact was on how I faced my own version of "the luck of the draw." . If I hadn't seen how he approached life and death, I wouldn't have had nearly as positive an attitude. Thanks so much for posting this.

A very poignant piece, Shel. Thanks for this. Oh yeah, did I ever tell you that I was inspired by your writings at your "It Seems To Me" website? I read almost all the articles and looking back, I must have unconsciously picked up some of your writing techniques. I was reading your articles because I was trying to understand what blogging was about. Which of course was after our fateful meeting at Jurong Regional Library, in June of 2004.
