How social networking spreads
I saw Rick Segal in Toronto last week. Being a VC, Rick gave me an inexpensive gift--a cold. I took it home with me. A week later, Pat Phelan flew in from Ireland. He gave my wife Paula a gift from Waterford Crystal. In return, I gave him Rick's cold which he took back home with him. He was so moved, that he blogged about it.
Next Tuesday, Pat will be hosting a blogger dinner at Taste of Thailand, the restaurant where he once was chef. He says he's going to honor us by stepping into the kitchen to fix us something special.
This is an example of how social networking spreads things globally rapidly. My question is this: If I hear coughing or sneezing in the kitchen, should Rick and I leave?

*Cough* *Cough* I can feel my throat start to tickle already! :)

No. The coughing you hear outside of commercial kitchens in Ireland are staff members required by law to smoke in the rain.

Hah, I laugh in the face of your North American viruses. I'll flatten you all with whatever my kids have infected me with on the day.

No need. I'm sure some theraputic (yeah right) warm liquids could be arranged. Hot toddy? Irish Coffee? Cough syrup and red bull (same flavour). Purely for medical reasons.

Depends on how rare you like your colds. :)
Also, on another note, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this...

Sorry if you have already commented somewhere, sometime and I missed it.

Rare, an irishman that not only cooks thai food, but worked as a chef in a thai food restaurant. There's a story lurking here....

LL,
I disagree with a great many contentions raised there and have written all-too-often on that topic. These days, I'd much rather an HP blogger address the issues that concern HPs community, such as how does it feel when a state's attorney general accuses its chairperson of criminal wrongdoing? How distrracted is HP with the mess unfolding? How does an employee trust this board to not be watching its employees with unethical tools? This reminds of a blogger a while back who blogged about the difficulties of his jet commute to and from India from Silicon valley. What he failed to discuss was that Carly had been fired and rumors were rampant that employees were dancing in the aisles.

Okay... maybe you could point me to where you wrote on the topic... sorry to bother you, I am just really interested in an alternate viewpoint.
