World Tour Chunk #1
Canadian VC Rick Segal and I have been recalibrating our World Tour ever since terrorism & typhoons stopped us from leaving last month as originally planned. We also came to realize that when you travel it one country at a time, the world is a much bigger place than it seems on neat little maps like this one.
Rick and I are planning to do several trips over the next several months. Our first will be to Europe and starts Oct. 14. Our schedule and general activities are as follows:
Oct. 14. London-- private dinner with small group of entrepreneurs.
Oct. 15-16--Scotland. Learning about social media in public education system
Oct. 17--Cork. Meetings with entrepreneurs/blogger dinner
Oct. 18--19 Dublin. Blogger dinner; participate in SaaS conference Trinity College
Oct. 20--Brighton, England, meet entrepreneurs
Oct. 21,2--Brussels, meet with entrepreneurs
Oct. 22-24--Estonia, meet leaders of online community, private dinner.
Oct. 25--Berlin possible day to play tourist
Oct. 25-30. Rome, Guest of American Embassy. speaking meeting with Italian entrepreneurs. [Rick leaves Oct. 28]
Oct. 31-Nov 5. Vacation with Paula. Amalfi Coast.
We have a very packed schedule so there is little time to schedule new meetings for this trip. Although, if you have a great idea you want to share, Rick and I tend to be guys who just cain't say no. We also both expect to be back in Europe in the not too distant future--either separately or together.

I'll carry your bags everywhere and wear dark sunglasses like secret service if you let me come along.

Owen,
Rick says if you pick up the hotel tab, we may have a deal.

What kind of hotel are we talking about?

Oh one with a lobby, and beds and maybe a bathroom in each room.

Shel, why isn't Athens on your list ???

Athens is not on the list Antonis, because we have not heard of any social media stuff going on there. Can you correct that perception?

There are a number of events scheduled every year, including INFOCOM (http://www.info-com.gr), and COMDEX (www.dte.gr) (click on the english part). Most of these events are infrastructure driven but now applications and new ways of seeing the Inet have prompted a clear path to new ideas (since no one digs an empty and unused DSL line...). So I believe that indeed we can all profit locally from fresh broadband perspectives ( I know I have...)
