Plumber Blogger Has Strong Flow
When we wrote Naked Conversations, we searched the blogosphere for a blogging plumber. It didn't actually have to be a plumber. We wanted to find a local merchant, craftsman or contractor who had the smarts to blog, to show their knowledge and passion for what it is they did for a living.
Since the book a few examples have emerged, such as Tinbasher sheet metal worker's blog or even the Envirolet Compost Toilet folk, but we never did find our plumber until after the book was completed. That was until about two days before I went to Boise for a speaking engagement. That's when Retired Geezer, a cantankerous but charming character proclaimed he had started a blogging plumber blog. By coincidence, he was in Boise, and planning to be at what turned out to be a great blogging dinner. The Geezer was a lot of fun and he told me how he was really a sprinkler installer but that was pretty close, I thought when I wrote about it here.
But I had the feeling that the Geezer had too much twinkle in his eye and too many of his friends were listening to our chat too closely. I felt that he was putting me on.
And he was. While there's a sprinkling of sprinkler work going on, it has emerged into a fun-loving and popular group blog. The counter says that it has had 41,000 visitors in just four months, and now there's lamentation that they are too busy working to do much blogging.
Well, I'm glad my faith in this nice retired guy helped get the blog kick-started. I'm even glad the guys in Boise had a nice chuckle at the expense of this Californian.
But if you happen to live in Boise and you have an emergency plumbing problem, I suggest you use Google Local or Yellow Pages online.
shel, go to www.redrooster3.com-- andy cates dictates his entries via sat phone back to his office at Point Loma. The red Rooster3 is a long range fishing boat that goes down the Baja coast for five days at a time. It's a fun--short blog that's read by a lot of fishermen down here who wished they could go out on the rooster, or the Qualifier 105 (which is something of a floating luxury hotel for long range deep sea fishermen).
Best

How about a guy that does turbo washing? My ex-wife's brother-in-law. I'm helping him put up his site at http://www.ayersturbowash.net out of Atlanta, GA. He's not exactly too keen on using the blog functionality, but he likes the site. :)

Well I do remember commenting on here during the writing of your book. I'm sure you even said thanks to me amongst the rest in a post once you'd finished it. Bless. ;-)
You've also got the Signs Never Sleeps guy off the top of my head as a craftsman.
I know that the vast majority of plumbers etc. need to remain as local as possible, and, although it's easy to go global with a blog, it's even easier to go local with a blog.

We tried to interview the Signs Never Sleep guy and he blew us off, saying he was too busy to talk to us, and convincing us he was really the conversational type.

Hi Shel, I may have a twinkle in my eye but I'm up to my elbows in mud every day.
My Plumbing blog is at http://sprinklerdoc.wordpress.com
I've even updated it recently with a bunch of weird sprinkler problems.

We have a blog and we are plumbers. Surely there's got to be at least a dozen of us in the whole world?

What kind of plumber's blogger are you looking for? Home Plumber, Commercial Plumber, Mechanical Engineer? We come in contact with a lot of each of these through our business at www.pipemanproducts.com.
Let me know and I will do my best to see if any of my customers are into plumber's blogging.

Um, according to our Sitemeter, we're now at 385,517 visits and 790,818 page views.
FYI.
I hate to be a bitch about this. :)

Perhaps I should explain. At IB, "bitch" is used as an honorific term.

BTW, where are you? My computer says it's about 1:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) Your time stamp says it's 10:00 p.m.
Are you in Denver or something? Are you listening to John Denver music and eating granola bars?
