Naked Conversations author-nemesis Werner Vogels clearly wins a round with his April Fool's announcement that Amazon is going to make public the IM addresses for all Amazon employees, thus enabling ongoing live conversations on any topic whatsoever.
I yield the round to Werner.. I laughed so hard I needed a bio break. I just subscribed to this guy. I want to keep an eye on him.

"Wins a round?" Please. He's been mopping the floor with you.

Bob,
Maybe so. But would you please identify yourself so people can assess who you are and where you are coming from. Anonymity lacks a certain credibility, don't you think?

I think he's afraid you'll make an 'example' out of him.

I'd HOPE that a CTO would be able to mop the floor with us. He's paid far more than either of us put together and he's the technical head of a very large public corporation. If he COULDN'T mop the floor with us I'd be a little worried.

Robert and Shel ... why all this Junior High behavior? Do you really think this tag-team bickering is helping the business case for blogging? Your worthwhile "naked conversation" has turned into a deplorably wretched conversation. Sorry to be a naysayer but I ain't down with your "he said, shel said" sophomoric blogging angle. Time to move on fellas ... move on.

I agree about anonymity and criticism. It's like ringing someone's doorbell and running.
But the logic of he's a "CTO" and should "be able to mop the floor with us" escapes me. A corner office and a parking space with one's name on it doesn't guarentee brains, savvy, or anything but more than your share of ass kissers.

Laurence,
I tend to agree with you on Robert's comment. Sometimes my partner says the most baffling things. Other times, he serves up some of the best wsdon about blogging that I have ever heard.
