Rick Segal & Amazon's Bad Boy

I just love Rick Segal's piece on Amazon's Bad Boy CTO Werner Vogels.  Someone had to inject a little humor on this otherwise serious subject.  He also reiterates what Robert and I feel  We think pretty highly of Amazon.  In fact, I own stock in the company and I'm very far from ready to sell.  But then, there's Werner, the guy who welcomed us into his living room with a sucker punch.

Rick asks a pretty compelling question: "Why is this man not smiling?" I could write a book ...

There's also an interesting couple of Comments from an apparent Werner admirer named Mark.  But as Robert points out, Mark's Trackback trail ends mysteriously at the Google Blog. Mark is apparently playing IP Address games. Mark is apparently technically slick enough to cover his tracks. I wonder why he lacks the cajones to come out of the shadows and identify himself? Won't his boss allow it?

Scoble also has an update where he's challenging Werner to a one-on-one debate at any future venue.  No fair.  I want a piece of this action.  Tell Werner to bring Mark along and we'll play doubles.

Jack Krupansky also weighs in on the subject.  I'm shocked to discover that Jack says he finds Werner arrogant.

Shel, you're definitely welcome at any rematch that comes along!

Anyway, I answer Werner's questions here (or at least I try): http://scobleizer.wordpress.com/2006/03/31/much-ado-about-blogging-scoble-you-didnt-answer-the-question/
