Vaspers Buys Naked in Peoria

Earlier today, Stephen Streight walked into a Peoria, IL, Barnes & Noble and became, as far as we know, the first person to buy Naked Conversations in a retail bookstore. Naked was not yet on the shelf, but the clerk retrieved it from a recently arrived carton in the back room. Funny, they didn't have the book yesterday at a Barnes & Noble, (Stevens Creek), in the heart of Silicon Valley. It made it to Peoria first.

Steven, aka Vaspers the Grate has very much  been very much a part of the Naked Conversations saga, being one of our most prolific commenters, and at times, our harshest critic. He hated an early book title and made his case. Without his protest, we never would have come up with our current title which most people love. Thanks, Steven.

He blogged about today's experience and his first look at the real book and today had some very kind words.

Thanks for being the first, Steven. Thanks for the kind words.

This also confirms what I think is going on in distribution. We think the book is indeed shipping ahead of schedule and those of you who pre-ordered it will start receiving them early next week.  I could be wrong, but my guess is the 1/25 date simply did not get updated systemwide at Amazon when their shipment arrived.

Let us know when your book comes in. We're sorry for all the confusion.

I checked two bookstores in northern Toledo, Ohio today. Borders did not have it yet and didn't expect it for another two weeks. Barnes and Noble had two copies of it on their shelf. It was at full price, however, so I'm buying my copy online.

Congratulations.
