This is a good idea, and that's nice for 1 800 CEO READ to do it.
A lot of book promotion, with limited availability of the product, is not all negative. A hysteria can build, a competition to acquire ahead of the herd, an envy machine, a full head of steam mania, a desire dam that bursts, this is one way to look at it.
Promote harder and heavier, like the book is universally available, and act like all is fine, as you ensure the smooth flow of book distribution.
A non-gratified frenzy, as long as the delay in gratification is not unduly long or hurting credibility, can work in your favor.
Think of Harry Potter frenzies and distribution problems, mistakes, leaks, etc., yet sales were only boosted, the press coverage of errors, lawsuits, frustrated fans, etc. fed the flames of furious frenzy.
