I was scanning my morning email scan. As is often the case, Jim Minatel, my book editor who has emerged into my friend had one for me. What was unusual was the subject matter. He was writing to inform Robert and me that he would be away for 10 days. Jim would be joining a church group from Indiana to help people out in New Orleans.
He had been touched by a woman named Courtney an Indiana woman who had blogged about her similar experience in Texas between Katrina and Rita helping victims and blogging in long passionate posts. Through her church, the Geist Christian Church, she was organizing another group and Jim was joining in.
Jim told me, " she doesn't have any idea what they'll have us doing when we get there. All I know is, we're driving there Sunday, working Mon-Fri. Driving home Saturday." While he gave me permission to blog this, he emphasized, "It's personal, I really feel called to give more back than I have to date, and this is part of it. But I also feel that maybe if I talk a little more about giving more back, maybe I can make an impact beyond just what I can do with my own two hands."
Jim, you inspire me. I wish you safe journey and success in helping people who need it.
