Gates Says Most Businesses will Blog

Tony Perkins, hardcopy, AlwaysOn, the blogazine of innovation, has gone out and you can only see parts of it online , or subscribe for the full paper version. Once piece not available online is Perkins own "Tune In--Turn On" column in which he discusses Bill Gates comments on blogging during a private dinner at Gates home on Lake Washington.

" Blogging makes it very easy to communicate. It gets away from drawbacks of email and the drawbacks of a website. Eventually, most businesses will use blogs to communicate with customers, suppliers and employees, because it's two-way and more satisfying."

Perkins added, "Gates  knows that the referral power of the blogosphere is also exploding and marketing and PR executives must embrace this reality or risk losing control of their messages."

I wonder if companies will eventually add people to their payrolls whose primary job will be to read (and understand and communicate up) the comments in a company's blog (or blogs)? Right now there are invididuals blogging. I wonder if in the future it will trend toward collaborative, company-wide (or division-wide) blogs? If blogger-in-chief (or blog-editor or whatnot) becomes a job description, where will it go in a company's org chart? Marketing department? Communications department?
